Street Health

Report Design & Production

Street Health is a non-profit community-based agency providing physical and mental health programs to homeless and underhoused individuals in the City of Toronto. A comprehensive study was undertaken and data collected based on surveying homeless people in the Toronto area.

The Challenge

The data compiled and collected was quite extensive. We met with the directors and they briefed us on the direction they wanted to go. We suggested several design approaches to them. We supplied them with a needs analysis form. At the second meeting, we presented them with a design brief and a suggested timeline in order to come to an agreement on setting critical paths throughout the life of the project.

We also got the opportunity to collaborate with the National Film Board of Canada who was also working on creating a documentary based on the survey.

The Results

We presented three concepts based on the client brief. Once the concept was finalized. Extensive copy editing, composing, typesetting and proofreading was executed by Defining Design around the clock in order to make the tight deadline requested by the client.

The Street Health Report was publicly launched in Trinity Square buzzing with every major Canadian media present. The Toronto Star placed  the subject of homelessness and the report on the front page. At present, the Street Health Report is still gathering momentum and there are several presentations at conferences throughout North America.

We continue to design Bulletins on various subjects within the report.
