Paul Bonsell

I founded Defining Design in 2003. Experiences in Canada and Europe have contributed to my diverse approach to design, which have always come from a careful balance of understanding and intuition. I believe a good idea can come from any inspiration, be it a photo, something you read or even a person you pass on the street.
I sit on the Program Advisory Committee at George Brown College I have also lectured and critiqued at the college.

Design is ever present around us: waiting to be perceived, to inspire and to relay its intangible message.
Feeling restless, I travelled and freelanced in Chile, returning to partner up with Paul in 2005. It’s been a love/hate relationship ever since. Travels have given me new perspectives and visual inspirations.
I bring a distinct vision and approach to your organization, to clearly communicate your message.

Fascinations
Latin American Street Art, architecture, drawing oodles of doodles, late night ideas, children’s curiousity, bad first impressions, accidental discoveries at work. Accidental discoveries at play. People.

My strength is seeing composition, colour and light with a photographer’s eye. I bring an unconventional richness to every design project whether it includes photography or not.
I am passionate about shooting people, but not confined to them as photographic subjects. Shooting subjects outside or in natural light is always a way to provide a wonderful mood in any shot.
